And now it's back but awaiting confirmation.

So, a free web site not accepting comments on a topic of interest?

Now, THAT sucks!

Edit -CB
See response above please.

In addition, this site is on paid hosting without ads, it most certainly is not "free".

I have been a member of EE going on 13 years now. I've never had to pay anything. A little bit of my time helping others in exchange for support from some of the top experts in the world is a very small price to pay. Even the hardest one-of-a-kind problems get answered within a day or two, most within hours. A lot of times with specific step-by-step instructions. If you're patient (obviously you're not) people there will take the time to teach you to solve your own problem next time.

Grow up already, just because it is on the internet doesn't mean it is free and your sense of entitlement shows how mature you're not.

"Expert exchange makes money from people who provide the content for free".

So what? Where in anything you've ever seen has it been written/described/alluded to/implied that EE is anything BUT a commercial enterprise.

I contribute to EE. I get paid by my boss for the work I do. I answer questions on EE in my spare time based upon my experience and my desire for a little bit of ego stroking (those "Good Answer" emails really do provide a small measure of self worth when you feel in a crappy mood).

I share my experience and skills.

I also learn new skills by asking questions and learning from experts I can track, chase and trust.

And if you have any skill in anything related to IT and you have some time to contribute to the wider community, then why not answer some questions yourself. Get yourself a free membership to pretty much the only game in town.

For companies needing a fast turnaround on a support issue, then EE provides extremely high VFM / ROI. There are experts who have tuned their searches to find questions from specific subscribers.

EE is really like having all the best bits of the internet (when it comes to getting solutions to problems) in one place. The content is from the people who have solved those problems before you. And when you do, finally ask a question that no one else has, you have some of the top people in the world who are capable of helping you on hand to talk you through to a solution.

And they are providing it to you for free.

So, you have to pay for hosting and development via a subscription. So what? Do you think the internet should "just all be free, man!".

As a developer, I always hear the phrase "Content is King".

Nowhere do I hear "Content is free".

Regards,

Richard Quadling.

I have looked at the sites that are E-E competitors and am convinced that even myself (not an IT pro in any sense) can answer enough questions to get full access for free!! The other sites were so hard to even figure out just what I am doing or who is even on there to answer that I'm blown away that they're even considered competitors to E-E!! One of them (experts exchange.asia has had 1 user log in in 2010) haha. If you're not going to take the time and PATIENCE to search the internet for the correct solution, just pay E-E to get a solution for you stat then just cancel the membership (unless you end up loving it like I did)

I agree experts-exchange is a rip off. Since Google will not block these clowns I just use BlockSite firefox add on and put them in the list, at least they will not be getting a page hits from me ( google take note).
