I can honestly say I have never experienced a BSOD with Vista, and don't plan on one now as I will hold off on upgrading iTunes. The problems people are experiencing lay firmly with Apple's iTunes version 8, as evidenced by several pages in Google. Customer service reps at Apple have said they're aware of the problems and are working on a fix. Hans, funny guy.
