Upgrading a Windows Live Spaces blog to WordPress.com

There are 30 million people who are actively using Windows Live Spaces and have been eagerly awaiting the next set of new blogging features. For these customers, Windows Live and WordPress.com have worked together to build a simple way to move your blog posts, comments, and integrated photos right over to WordPress.com and start taking advantage of all their new features. And we’ll also redirect all your old Spaces URLs to your new blog, so you don’t lose any visitors along the way.

New Windows Live Betas

by certifiedbug on September 18, 2008

in Microsoft

Live Writer now supports my blog’s tag plugin which means I don’t have to edit every post to add tags.

Strike that, the tags generated gave a 404 and my plugin, “No tag for this post”.

I will add an update once I have played with all the new beta goodies, and hopefully fixed a few things too.

Windows Live Writer Technical Preview

by certifiedbug on June 4, 2008

in Microsoft

Now available for download.

Official announcement: Windows Live Writer Technical Preview

And for developers: Windows Live Writer Technical Preview SDK

We’re calling this a Technical Preview release because the primary reason for it is to gather feedback on some enhancements to the SDK we’ve made. (The Tech Preview is available in English only, but don’t worry, the other languages will be back later in the release cycle.)

This preview contains new features and significant bug fixes.

There is a drawback in that I can’t incorporate two of my most frequently used WordPress plugins or this theme’s custom field.
Which means instead of publishing straight to blog I posted the draft to edit online.

One can make feature requests at the New Beta forum

Sysinternals Live

in Software

Ed Bott broke the news that Sysinternals Live is now open to the public.

The new service enables you to execute the most recent version of any Sysinternals tool directly from an Internet-connected PC, without having to hunt for the executable file and manually download it first.

What a treat for Sysinternals utilities fans.

Microsoft bought the company and its library in 2006. Sysinternals co-founder Mark Russinovich is now a Technical Fellow in the Platform and Services Division at Microsoft.
