Speaking of conferences,
Microsoft will host the 2009 MVP Global Summit March 1-4, 2009 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle, and at Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, Washington.
I will be attending my third Summit as a Microsoft Consumer Security MVP, and am looking forward to seeing friends and colleagues again real time and meeting new ones.
The MVP Global Summit features more than 400 technical sessions in which MVPs can connect with other MVPs, build relationships with Microsoft experts, and provide real-world insights and feedback to Microsoft product teams.

Previous Certifiedbug: The Microsoft MVP Program, how it works
Toby Richards, General Manager for Community Support Services and the MVP Program at Microsoft, is interviewed by Ken Levy discussing the current state of the Microsoft MVP (Most Valuable Professionals) community and the roadmap for the MVP program and MVP summit.
Toby took over this role in early 2008, and he is responsible for programs that identify, award and enable community influencers around the world, creating deeper relationships and richer feedback opportunities that improve Microsoft products and services. Also discussed in the interview is online support strategies and how MVPs help users and developers who are not MVPs. For more information, go to the MVP Program Web site.

Microsoft said about 1,800 people attended this year’s MVP Summit from countries around the world.
Aside from the fun and meeting virtual colleagues in person, MVPs met with Product Groups and had the opportunity to learn and give lots of feedback.
Ballmer made the comments as part of a lively and wide-ranging address at the MVP Summit, an annual conference for independent technology gurus who specialize in specific Microsoft product lines. The deep expertise of the MVPs can lead to frank and detailed exchanges with Microsoft representatives.

But the work that you guys do, not only helping our customers, but really helping give us the right kind of a kick in the backside when we need it to really be on the leading edge of how people are using these products, talking to us about it, telling us what we can do to make those better experiences is absolutely, absolutely invaluable.
Steve Ballmer: Microsoft 2008 MVP Summit. Presspass
After hearing Steve Ballmer’s keynote speech I understood why an attendee last year was disappointed that he did not speak then.
He was responsive in the Q&A period and very inspiring and attentive, made us laugh a lot too.

Things have been quiet around here as I was attending the Microsoft MVP 2008 Global Summit
Rich Kaplan, Microsoft’s vice president of Supportability and Customer and Partner Experience joins Joe Wilcox of Microsoft-Watch in a podcast.
Kaplan claims that MVPs are not just Microsoft supporters, but the company’s harshest critics. So, what have they to say about Windows Vista Service Pack 1? That’s one of the many interesting questions he answers.

The Global Summit will be hosted at the Washington Trade and Convention Center in Seattle, and at Microsoft headquarters in Redmond Washington, April 14-17, 2008.
One MVP teamed up with Summit organizers to produce a Virtual Earth visualization Map showing where Summit attendees are coming from.
At the Security Garden Corrine blogged Ed Bott’s ‘Vista Master Driver List‘, which she has added to Windows Vista Bookmarks
That led me to Robert McLaws: Windows Vista: Six Months In, Your Mileage May Vary
This may be news to Jessica Mintz of the Associated Press, but not every Vista user has been griping.
You can count me in, I have not encountered any driver problems with a Dell XPS which had Vista pre-installed. I did elect to go with a integrated sound card because the alternative was Sound Blaster. After my own experience with Creative after upgrading another machine to Vista Ultimate, I was not going to take that route again.
Of course some people will experience problems, that is to be expected when a new Operating System is released.
However it is a sweeping statement to imply this is a problem for everyone and his mother running Vista.

Microsoft MVP and friend Corrine Chorney, was the first guest in a series of interviews to come at Windows Vista for beginners, “Getting to know the Microsoft enthusiasts.”
I rather like this sentiment:
Beyond the number of views and blog analytics, this belief that I have always held was illustrated by Sean O’Driscoll, Microsoft General Manager, Customer Service and Support Community and MVP, in his blog post where he wrote: “3 people helped each day, “paid forward” by each person helps 4.7M people in two weeks.”
